In August, Rodolfo stood out with an extraordinary performance that earned him the title of Trader of the Month within the Unger Academy® community.
His net profit? A solid €13,472, equal to a +53% return on his capital, with a drawdown contained at 7.65%.
As we all know, success in systematic trading isn’t just about numbers. It’s also about continuous growth, discipline, and adaptability. Rodolfo’s story is living proof of that. Let’s dive in!
Live in Just 3 Months
Rodolfo has been a student of the Unger Academy® for over a year. Thanks to the support of our coaches, who guided him through the early stages of his journey, it took him just three months to start trading live in the markets.
The assistance he received in the initial phases—including installing the platforms and navigating the training materials—proved essential in accelerating his learning and allowing him to move quickly into the operational phase.
Professionally, Rodolfo works as an e-commerce consultant. His IT skills helped him handle the technical aspects of the journey with relative ease, speeding up his path to independence even further.
After completing the 8-week introductory program, Rodolfo decided to continue with the AlgoTrader Fast training program, focusing mainly on strategies from the Million Dollar Database while also starting to develop his own systems.
Initially, he traded without using our proprietary Titan software, which he later progressively integrated into his portfolio-building process.
Today, Rodolfo trades live with about 15 active systems, demonstrating a mature approach to operational management.
Beyond August: Early Struggles and Lessons Learned
August marked an important breakthrough, but Rodolfo’s journey wasn’t without its challenges.
The first months of live trading were complex, partly due to a few mistakes in Titan’s initial setup and missing out on statistically favorable months like January.
The toughest moment came between April and May, when market instability linked to Trump’s tariff tensions hit hard. In those months, correlations between markets broke down, and breakout systems—the core of his portfolio—suffered significantly.
Despite these difficulties, Rodolfo says he’s satisfied with the path he has taken, emphasizing that continuous learning is, for him, the real added value.
Looking Ahead: Zeus and the World of Options
Currently, Rodolfo plans to dive deeper into Zeus, the new portfolio management software developed by the Unger Academy®, and to begin studying options trading as a way to further expand the diversification of his systems.
Rodolfo’s Advice for Those Starting Live Trading
From his experience, he shares three key pieces of advice for anyone approaching live trading:
- Diversify as much as possible across instruments and underlying assets
- Be patient, because real results can only be evaluated over the long term
- Don’t be fooled by the short term: early successes are often random, while statistics work in our favor over time
Special Mention: Alessandro and Roland
Alongside Rodolfo’s win, August also saw other students stand out with remarkable results.
Alessandro closed with a +34.75% return, but with a higher drawdown (21.8%), showing strong profit potential but room for improvement in risk management.
Roland, on the other hand, achieved a +20% performance with a 9.56% drawdown, reflecting a more balanced approach between profit and portfolio volatility control.
