Trader of the Month (October 2025): Domenico Wins with a +62% Return and Over €9,300 in Profit

The October edition of our monthly contest has crowned Domenico as the new Trader of the Month, thanks to an outstanding performance:

• Return of +61.53%
• Profit of €9,369
• Drawdown kept at 5.39%

An exceptional result that rewards not only the quality of his systems but also the maturity with which he handled a year that was far from easy.

Alongside him, two other traders also stood out and deserve special recognition.

The first is Ludovico, who achieved a +50% return with an extremely low drawdown of just 2.71%, demonstrating impeccable risk management.

 

The other is Filippo, who closed the month with an excellent performance: a +38% return with a drawdown of 4.33%, a sign of a solid and disciplined approach.

 

A Journey Built with Patience and Independence

Domenico, a banker by profession, has been a student of the Unger Academy since 2021 and began live trading in 2024. His result is particularly meaningful because it stems from a journey carried out entirely on his own, without direct support from our tutors.

He chose to take the necessary time to learn, experiment, and internalize every step of the Method, building a solid and lasting foundation.

Currently, he trades with a small account for a very specific reason: he wants to use this phase as a growth opportunity, to better structure himself and gradually move on to managing larger capital.

 

His Approach: Only Systems He Has Developed and Truly Understands

Domenico trades live exclusively with proprietary systems that he has developed and optimized personally.

He prefers not to use systems developed by others in real markets because he believes that total trust in the system is essential, and for him, that trust only exists if he fully understands the logic behind it.

Over the years, he has developed more than 200 systems, although he only uses at most a dozen of them live, selected through the Titan software.

His systems are primarily trend-following, as he finds mean-reverting strategies technically and emotionally challenging (for example, “buying a crash” feels unnatural to him).

He trades exclusively micro futures, with the sole exception of cryptocurrencies, which he currently does not use.

 

The Challenges He Faced: A Major Technical Error and a Remarkable Display of Discipline

2024 was not a smooth ride. In April, Domenico suffered a significant setback: a crash in TradeStation software prevented stop-loss orders from being executed, resulting in a substantial loss that negatively impacted his performance for the year.

Many would have reacted impulsively, but not Domenico:

• He didn’t panic and alter his systems
• He didn’t increase position size to “recover losses”
• He didn’t deviate from his trading process

His discipline not only allowed him to fully recover the loss but also to close the year (so far) with a total return of +41%.

This is a testament to his maturity and establishes him as a true systematic trader.

 

Domenico’s Advice for Those Starting Live Trading

Domenico shares three key pieces of advice for those entering systematic trading:

• “Only use capital you can afford to lose” — This is the foundation for maintaining clarity of mind.
• “Remember that the priority is risk management, not returns” — Profit is a consequence, not an immediate goal.
• “Maintain discipline and stick to the method, especially during tough times” — The difference between a beginner and a real trader lies in the ability to stay committed to the process.
