It was one of those failures that would make almost anyone give up…
However, I didn’t do it… Instead, I decided to accept that flop and keep on track.
And that was a great choice! Yes, because my perseverance was repaid with a success of which I’m still very proud…
Have you ever really felt embarrassed about failure?
Well, I did!
Back in 2006 and I launched my first book about money management and together with a publisher, we organized an event to present a book, in one of the trading exhibitions, trading Expo here in Italy.
So, I went to the stand, the booth of the publisher and I prepared my laptop to run the presentation.
So I looked around and nobody came to listen to me. Nobody! Zero!
So I felt really embarrassed, I waited for a while nothing happened.
Then, one of the guys of the publisher said: “okay, wait! Me and the other guy sit down listening to you, you start talking and more or less you see somebody will be coming here!”
So they sat down, and I started presenting to these two guys my book.
After a while, some other people came but four or five maybe six people involved.
So it was an awful experience, believe me!
The year after the same publisher booked a whole room of about 60 places, again to present my book and also in that case that room was nearly empty.
In a room for 60 people, there were maybe 12, 13 people I don't even remember very well!
I presented a book but I really hoped it finished as soon as possible to run away and forget about everything!
But, I didn't give up, and today that book is at its third edition in Italy has been translated into Chinese, it's been translated into English as well and it's a bestseller.
Many important institutional guys recognize more the contents of that book rather than my victories in the world trading championship so this is actually a success story which started in a tremendous way! That awful way!
But failure is never definitive, I mean, failure is never forever if you are willing and capable of withstanding failure and stand tall againt all the odds, go on and believe in what you do.
This is what I did, the same happened more or less in trading because I didn't start extremely well in trading from the very beginning.
But, I came to the four titles under my belt and my books some other books, and I'm here today to talk to you and if you're listening to me it's probably because you think I can teach you something about trading.
